Life Lived Well

As I sit listening to Rascal Flatts sing "When the Sands Run Out" where he talks about living life to the fullest. Although he is right I have a feeling he is talking about living life barely holding onto the reigns, doing whatever, whenever, whereever, to whomever for whatever reason you want to do it. The world tells us to live life to the fullest do whatever we want to do, life is short but none of this matters in the end. I am reminded of Nicole Nordeman's "Legacy" which talks about living life for the Glory of God. When God calls your name you will go and whether you submitted your life to Him and lived to glorify Him is all that will matter. I was reminded of Jim Elliot's famous quote last night at Bible study. From reading Luke 16:9 he penned the quote "He is no fool who loses what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." He lived out that quote in that he was killed by the Auca indians in Ecuador while trying to minister to them. He gave his life giving the glory to God and now he is reaping all the benefits of a life lived well. The man who dies with the most toys still dies and those toys can't come with him.
Matthew 16:26"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
