Hit the Heart string

I was very comforted and encouraged in a friend's post. So much so that I needed to post it myself. It is from the book Morning and Evening. It hit me right in the heart string.

“Believer…you should be satisfied with your earthly portion; for you may rest assured that it is the fittest for you. Unerring wisdom ordained your lot, and selected for you the safest and best condition…Remember this, had any other condition been better for you than the one in which you are, divine love would have put you there. You are placed by God in the most suitable circumstances…Be content with such things as you have, since the Lord has ordered all things for your good. Take up your own daily cross; it is the burden best suited for your shoulder, and will prove most effective to make you perfect in every good word and work to the glory of God.
Trials must and will befall—
But with humble faith to see
Love inscribed upon them all;
This is happiness to me.”
Psalm 16:5 (NIV) says, “Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure.”
I am also reminded of Psalms 23, I have heard it and memorized it but never really thought or meditated on what it means.
The LORD, the Psalmist's Shepherd.
A Psalm of David.
"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."
What a God we serve. May His Name be praised and may we learn to always trust Him.
