Here Goes...

So now that about 3 or 4 months has passed since I have really updated my blog I wonder how many people actually look at my blog.
I started working at UAMS mid-July the first week and a half was all sorts of hospital orientation, then starting my scrub orientation. As I worked my way through the services I was asked which one I was leaning towards or what were my top two. I really had no idea until I finally was put in Neuro surgery. I loved the challenge I like the adrenaline rush that comes with many aneurysms. I was reassured on one of my last days of Neuro when I was scrubbed in by myself and was asking for some suture and the RN told me I was starting to sound like a real Neuro nurse and that is when I told her that is what I wanted to do. Everyone affirmed that and my preceptor encouraged me to talk to Laura who is the team leader for Neuro. Who later walked into the room and said she knew I would be a great neuro scrub when i interviewed. I should only have two more weeks of orientation one of ortho and one for ENT (ear nose and throat). I may still have to wait to join the neuro team. Because they have 5 scrubs and they will have to find a way to get me in as a scrub. They should have a spot for me since Neuro has the most staff surgeons, and all neuro surgeries should have a neuro scrub in there. I am really ready to be off orientation so that I can be scrubbing by myself and set up things as I would like to have them. So that is what keeps me busy with work. I just switched to working 4, 10 hour days and that gives me Friday off, which is great.
So on to the fun part the personal romantic updates. When I started Scrub school I met this really great Christian guy named Jake who was starting in the Respiratory Therapy school. We talked a lot and had a great time together, as we got closer we found we were really liking each other but that he was not ready to be in a relationship. We would see each other at school and would talk a lot less often so I kind of lost hope in anything happening. Then when we were both doing our summer internship for school this year we saw each other and ended up being friends on Facebook again. Then we would chat for like an hour at a time on Facebook. And he started calling me and we would hang out together on some weekends. It started to get hard to be just friends again. Then one night when he was over after watching a movie he told me it was too hard to just be friends and that he wanted to start dating me. I felt surreal. I really could not believe that after all these years I was starting a relationship with Jake. I had a hard time falling asleep I was so excited. I knew it was not going to be easy because he is in his senior year of Respiratory Therapy school and he has 12 hour clinicals twice a week and classes on top of that. So some of our quality time has to be spent by me helping him study, which I am more than happy to. Weekends are when we are able to spend the most quality time together. We really get along well, I am very excited to see what God has in store for us. I am so glad that I met him. We went one weekend to spend time with his family and I got to meet everyone in his direct family, just not his brother in law. They are really great.
Fun fact he turns 25 the day before I turn 26. I am not so sure I want to turn 26 but hey it didn't kill any of my other friends who are older than me.
For now I think that is all the updating I can do. Don't worry tomorrow or soon thereafter I will start putting some pictures up.
