Back into the Swing

Now that we are back and I am getting adjusted to that, one more adjustment must be made. Today we registered for school. So Tuesday will be my official first day of class. I only have 4 hours this semester which will be nice. I thought I was going to have 5 but I was wrong about one class. So I have only two courses but one of them is Pharmacology. I am not so big on Pharmacology at all. I passed Nursing Pharmacology class by the seat of my pants. I made my C and I really did try too. So I am sort of frightened of that class. I pray that it will be like the Medical Terminology class I had last semester. We went over the terms in class and our exams were online so we could have our book and notes with us. I mean really we won't ever deal with the drugs ourself, but we will see them in the OR so we have to learn about them. So my life will be in full swing in a little less than a week.

Last Day

Sadly these will be the last Maine pictures I will post. Trust me I have a ton more. Let my put a disclaimer here for those who have weak stomachs. On the last day we were there a cow gave birth and I helped pull it. So Rachel took a few shots of me helping pull the calf. Truly there is no blood shown but the front hooves and nose of a calf. So don't say I did not warn you.

The house before the snow.

Here I am helping in the birth. OUt of the last 28 or so births there have only been like 8 heifers. We were glad this was a heifer. The bulls go to auction the heifers we keep, breed and milk.
Her little tongue is sticking out in this one. For some reason this cow would not lay down and give birth so her baby had to drop. Dad pulled her completely out so he could pull her past the gutter.
She is then tied up in front of her mom so she can lick her clean.Our little library we went to as children

This is me in front of the truck I fell out of when I was about two. And yes it was moving slowly when I fell out, into a holly bush.

Two tugs that have done their work for the day. It is amazing to see these boats in action, guiding huge tankers and barges up the river.

The back bridge is Rachel's favorite, it is the only high bridge. The closer green one is one of the two draw bridges.
This is why people don't worry about a little snow and ice up north. These are piles of sand and salt, and really sand does not do much, but lay some salt and you are good to go.

This is the Portland Shipyard. I think all US subs were made here. But I might be wrong, I do know the USS Razorback which is currently on the Arkansas river was made there.

Here I am clad in ribbons and bows, wearing one of my two new pairs of earrings, and opening a tiny ring. I already own this ring but was not careful with it and most of the gold is chipping off. I was totally surprised.
Bonsai likes to wear bows and sleep. Actually once she woke and felt the bow, off it was.
Rachel was beside herself when she opened her Patriots throw. It now resides on her recliner.
Dad was sure there was another present under the tree for him. We had totally forgotten about it. He was excited to get Pirates of the Caribbean II.

Christmas and Day After

Yeah all the presents are opened, and it only took about 2 hours.

This was the second time in our Christmas history that we had Christmas dinner alone. Our Aunt took Grandpa for the day, it was really nice to enjoy just us four for Christmas.

Christmas Eve

Every Christmas Eve our family gets together at my father's cousin Linda's house. We have dinner, then Santa comes with presents and then we have a Yankee swap, which is similar to White Elephant but it is not as involved. You open a gift and then swap with another if you want and nothing gets frozen.
