Just Around the Corner

Thursday night Rob took me out to dinner since he was leaving for the cruise the next day. He took me to Capers for a romantic dinner. It was so yummy then we did a little shopping and lastly went to a park to talk. We had an awesome conversation. As our conversation came to a close the brilliant lightening and thunder started but it was miles away. It was around 9 so we headed to the car. Once we got in the car the rain starting falling as the storm drew near. Halfway to home the tornado sirens started going off. I suggested he come in and we check the news to see where the tornado was. He assured me he would be fine and I knew he would be on the phone with a friend so I agreed. When I got home Rachel had the news on and the sirens were stopped. The storm was raging but there really was not much wind. Then as the sirens came on again Rachel looked out the window and called for me. I looked and sure enough there was a huge wall cloud. She grabbed Jett and headed downstairs. The wind started really picking up then once we were downstairs the sirens stopped and the wind almost completely died down. We figured whatever touched down was miles away.
The next morning on the way to work Rachel saw all the damage that missed us by less than a 1/4 of a mile. I still had no idea until I came home from clinicals and Rachel told me. The neighborhood behind us Leawood was hit hard and around the corner on Rodney Parham there was a ton of damage. We did a little exploring and documenting. This is all in Leawood. They say the tornado never actually hit the ground, that is why the damage is considered "minimal". As in no houses were completely taken out.

Julie documented on film for us.

This bush is now for sale.

The powerline was low

Praise God for his protection. As far as I know there were no casualties.
