Beginning of the Birthday Bashes

Tuesday morning Rob arrived at my house at 6 and brought some stargazer lilies and a huge monkey balloon. The day before he had given me some major hints about where he was taking me and the monkey made it all clear. Even though he did not mean for it to be a hint. He was taking me to the Memphis zoo.
When we got there we stopped at the visitor's center and got some brochures and took some pictures...

We walked across the street to this Civil War historical park.

Look he is holding the Moon.

Wow actually pictures of me

Then we headed over to the zoo. I loved that all the animals in front were dressed up. Lion Elvis, Hippy Hippo a hula alligator they were great.

We tried to see the cats first but there were large groups of loud children following behind us so we decided to start on the opposite side.
But not until I got some great shots. He is looking through to your soul.

Yeah oh that's it right there.

Rob was displeased that he was being such a sissy and eating grass. But I pointed out he wasn't eating it but probably licking the dew off of it. Or flossing his teeth with it.

Lovely little otters.

The pandas. I proceeded to talk for many of the animals. I think Rob got a kick out of it.

You just want to take them home and snuggle them.

These elephants looked so sad.
I think that is a tear dripping down.

I have never seen Polar bears before.
Mom I got a kick out of the fact that dad swims like a polar bear. They don't use their hind legs at all to swim either.

Yep Rob and I were at the zoo too.

Oh what a magnificent bird.

The sea lion show. It was great. They bent their heads all the way back to touch their backs.
They barked for us.

They did handstands.
They balanced balls using their whiskers.

Beary love
Darling your breath do you have a mint?
Kiss me anyways baby

How cute are the mommy and baby

Lake Placid anyone
You could go downstairs to see under water

The black leapord when he walked in the light you could see his spots.

R.O.U.S.

Lynx ears
Meercat Manor?!?!

They really were posing for me.
More sad animals. I don't blame these hippos they had a sad excuse for a pool. I have seen wading pools that are bigger than what they had.

Kimodo
And my most favorite part. The PENGUINS!

Like little gliding torpedos.
This fish was HUGE.

I was trying to be as bug-eyed as they were.

This fish's eye was almost as big as his head.
Prairie dogs. Sorry dad they did not have any prarie elk or elves for that matter. So very disappointing. I vote we go as a family to Colorado again. And Wyoming, South Dakota, the works. Not forgetting Casa Bonita.

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
merry merry king of the bush is he
laugh kookaburra laugh kookaburra
gay your life must be.
I don't remember the other verses but mom taught us that.

Penguin feeding time.

Love this one.

Before going to Beale street to wander we stopped at the Elmwood cemetary. I love the huge statues and cute monuments they have and I never noticed these areas. Where people had to be piled up and later covered with dirt due to the amount of people who died of yellow fever.
We decided to head to LR at about 6 and we had a sushi dinner at Mount Fuji. Best sushi I have had in Little Rock! Yum. Then he took me home and I went straight to bed. We were exhausted.

Hannah,
You got better pics of the Memphis Zoo than I did...of course....
Ok, wierd science lesson...I used to have a house cat who ate grass--usually as a second course after a mouse or bird. The vet told me all cats eat grass when they have eaten something that they can't digest well or have an upset stomach. Since cellulose is undigestible (except by beavers) it helps to rid their system of things that are making them sick. Really. :-P
