Birthday not far away

How exciting it is to be turning 23. I am now only 10 days away from my birthday. How does celebrating a birthday make any sense. I mean think about it, on your birthday you get gifts and it is celebrated that you began to exist in the open air on that day. Should it not make more sense for the mother to be getting gifts for the hours of pain and labor she endured on that day to bring you into the world she did the work why do you get the glory? Look at all the other holidays: Thanksgiving-pilgrims come to America to be able to live freely (they did something), Christmas-Jesus is born for the purpose of saving us, Easter-Jesus dies and is risen to save us, MLKJ day-he spoke up against discrimination, Columbus day- he came and discovered a new world also he killed many indians and took them as slaves but he still did some action to make it worthy of celebrating. But then there is your birthday, you did no work but scream when you came out, and you probably did not like coming out of the womb either, but we are going to treat you like you did something special on this day. It just does not make sense. I guess it makes sense when you take into account Mother's day, that being the day when she is celebrated for giving birth to you and raising you, yet so many people push this holiday aside. So lets all make sure we don't forget our mom's who made our birthday possible.
