This was how he slept when we first brought him in. He was so dehydrated.

New Family Member?!?!
This weekend provided a new "temporary" addition to the family. Saturday evening I was with Rob visiting his grandma in the hospital, she had surgery on her shoulder. After a little while I got a call from Rachel and she said our neighbor had knocked on the door earlier and there was a kitten sitting on our front step. Her son had been playing with it earlier and now it was just sitting there. So Rachel did bring it in because she said it was like 3 weeks old. I am not thinking clearly because I am not seeing it. All I could think is you brought it in and Misty is going to get fleas now and there is no way we are keeping this cat. She then told me that he looked blind in one eye, because it was all white. She said when she brought him in he just followed her around and whined. Later she called back and said she could not find him. He had been on our step and was gone. I came back at about 12 and she had just looked again and had gone to bed. I came up and thought there was a tiny blanket right in front of the door. I knew there was no way that was the kitten. When I walked up sure enough that was the tiny kitten balled up trying to keep warm. I was cold that night. So I picked him up and went inside. I could not believe Rachel had left that tiny little thing outside in the cold. I made a box and debated whether I should go to the store to get him something to eat right then. I put him in a blanket in a box and went to bed. I woke up twice and opened my phone to give me enough light to make sure he was still alive. When I got up I cuddled him and Rachel woke up to find me with him. I asked her how she could have left him outside. I ran to the store and found some milk replacement formula for kittens and a jar of lamb baby food. He just downed the formula. I decided to start him on just that because he was so dehydrated and bony. I thought maybe that he just had an infection on his second eyelid and that was why it was white but now the infection has spread to the other eye and we are able to wipe off the mucous with a wet rag but the other one has turned white. I am afraid that he has a chlamydia infection and it has already blinded that one eye. He is a little eating machine now. We are careful to keep him away from Misty and wash our hands after we handle him at all. Rachel will be taking him to the vet this afternoon to get him some antibiotics and possibly a sub-q injection to rehydrate him. We also need to clarify whether it is a he or she, we think it is a boy but are not quite sure. Our "Plans" are to nurse him back to health and then find a home for him. I however am getting quite attached to the little guy. I mean how could you not. Our friend Hailey's cat Dora used to love to perch on your shoulder. He too loves to perch on your shoulder so we will call him Diego (since on the cartoon Diego is Dora's friend) if it is a he and Dory if it is a she. I really can't believe that it is a feral cat, because by this age it would be very timid and stand-offish. Whereas when he is up he wants you to be holding him and will follow you around until you do. He followed me all morning from getting out of bed, brushing my teeth, trying to put clothes on etc.

In my defense I was told not to bring the cat in the house. On top of that I could not find it before I went to bed. I thought the mother have come along and took it.
