Lexington and Concord

Sunday morning we went to church, dad sadly had to work. After church we tried to plot out the plans for our week. Rachel and I both really wanted to go tour Lexington and Concord. Concord is where my grandmother was in a nursing home so we always went to visit her and passed the battlefields, which always drew my attention.

We went to the little visitor's center and mom actually listened to the guy telling her where we should start and all sorts of FUN information. Rachel and I were quite distracted by the gifts and information posted there. So we headed up to the North Bridge first.

When you stand and look at this plaque marking the graves of the British, you are actually standing on thier graves.

The North Bridge

The front of the monument marking where the shot went off that was heard round the world.

Because it was late in the afternoon the back of the statue was the best picture. I should have brought my flash for some fill light.

This was where the Rev William Emerson watched the fighting.

The Old Manse

Sleepy Hollow Cemetary burial place of many authors.

I forget the name of this tavern.

Love the old wooden fences.
Replica of Thoreau's cabin he lived in for two years on Walden's pond. He lived on the bare essentials for life.
Walden's Pond.

Rock pile by the actual site of Thoreau's cabin.

This was the site of the cabin.

This was a view from where his cabin rested of the pond.
