Party Time

After coming back from North Conway we decided to start a game that dad enjoyed so we could spend some quality time with him too. This time of year he works 12-14 hour days at the farm, chopping and haying, so night was when we got to see him. We decided on Lord of the Rings Risk. These were my big battalions. We never got to finish due to mom's party, but I am sure I would have won had we continued, since I was covering most of the board.
Rachel was mowing while I was sweeping, mopping and vacuuming the house. Mom thought we were just being nice. Little did she know.
The day we went to Green, Maine and Farmington, we had also planned her Surprise 60th birthday party for 6 pm. So Rachel and I watched the time as we traveled up there so that we could arrive home at about 6:15-6:20. It worked perfectly. We could not help but laugh when mom kept going underwater at Clearwater pond. She almost NEVER EVER gets her hair wet when we swim and the one day we have a party she keeps diving under. Every time she did Rachel and I kept saying she is going to look great for her surprise party. When we pulled into the modular home park mom wanted to stop to get the mail.
Every time our cousin Martin comes home he rents a red Mustang convertible and who would pull up right behind us? Martin. Mom was getting the mail and taking her time so we tried to wave him on, because she would definitely recognize the car if she saw it. We were so glad she got some interesting piece of mail so when she turned around she was looking down at it and Martin got by successfully. When she got back in we told her we got her a surprise at the house and she would have to put on Rachel's sleeping mask. So Rachel went in with the camera and I led mom to the house. She kept asking what it was, and how could we have gotten it there when we were with her all day. We were so glad she did not have a clue. So I walked her in and took off the blindfold and she was shocked and delighted.

This cake was scrumptious. Whipped cream frosting and all.
